American Civil War ReenactingThe BOY SCOUTS of AMERICA and VENTURE CREW 1855 are offering you an opportunity to participate in the hobby of AMERICAN CIVIL WAR REENACTING. OPEN TO: BOYS and GIRLS ages 14 to 21, with or without a Scouting background and Adults 21+. WHAT WE DO:
WHO WE ARE: We are a “Generic Union” Infantry unit that can fall in with other groups of Reenactors and Living Historians. Usually in Las Vegas, we represent the US Army’s 9th Infantry Regiment, Company D which was deployed in the valley after the American Civil War in the late 1860’s. When in California for Civil War Reenactments, we primarily merge with the 71st Regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. The unit was also known as the “1st California Infantry” when it was formed during the American Civil War by Californian’s back east under Senator Baker. Some of our members also “fall-in” with different groups depending on their personal interests. We also include, and encourage, people to join who have an interest in one of the more specialized interests available in the hobby of American Civil War Reenacting. Some examples of those are: Cavalry, Artillery, Confederate impressions, Female and Male Civilian impressions, and Zouve Infantry. We also allow “Female Soldiers” who are able to pass the “5 foot rule” and appear as men from 5 feet away at a glance as this was an actual occurrence. MEETINGS: We meet twice each month, for 12 months. Our main meeting is on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 10 am till 2 pm down at “The Old Mormon Fort” next to Cashman field. Our second meeting is the 4th Wednesday of each month from 6:30 pm till 8 pm at the Civil War Roundtable at the Summerlin Library. CONTACTS:
